Mother's Day & 13 Months

There is no place I would rather be on Mother's Day then in Palm Desert with my family.  Kevin usually works on the weekends, so I was so GLAD he was able to get it off.  We had a blast as always...it is such an AWESOME mini vacation destination.  Reid absolutely LOVES the pool and crawling around the golf course for our nightly bocce ball game.  At 13 months Reid is still not walking willingly on his own.  Stubborn little guy would rather crawl extremely fast or run while we hold his hand.  I am just waiting for that one day he just takes off on his own...for now, I guess I can enjoy him just crawling...right?!?!  He is sleeping GREAT (knock on wood)...back to two naps instead of one.  Must be all that moving around.  He is fascinated with airplanes, helicopters, birds, and trucks (especially fire trucks).  When he hears one or sees one he goes crazy pointing at it and gets so excited talking...it is hilarious.  We are finished with bottles and doing great, next thing is the pacifier when he goes to sleep.  I am glad he doesn't want it any other time, but now I know it is going to be a challenge to take it away at nap/night time.  This kid loves to be outside any moment he can...walking, playing in his mini water park, running/walking with mommy and daddy in the BOB, or just strolling in his car.  He actually gets upset if either of us goes outside and doesn't bring him.  I can't wait for when I am off of work in a few weeks for summer (even though I am doing morning summer school) and we can have our beach, lagoon, and pool days.

Playing with cousin Jake

Teaching him young...the Estrada's are ALWAYS yellow in bocce ball

Ready for Summer!

We had a few weeks of gorgeous weather and it has made me so ready for summer.  We definitely took advantage of the warm weather.  Going to various parks, the beach, and Palm Desert.  Reid also had his one year check-up (we had to postpone it because he most likely got RSV and needed to wait until he was well) which went great!  He is 23 lbs. 2oz. (50%) and 31.1 inches (80%)...growing and a bit on the tall side.  Here is what's new with Reid since the last post...
  • Took about 8 steps on his own, but would rather crawl extremely fast or have us hold his left hand (he will not walk if you hold his right)
  • No more bottles
  • Whole milk...no more formula =)
  • Drinks out of a straw cup
  • Eats what we eat...no more baby food
  • Talks A LOT, mostly gibber gabber that is very intentional, but says momma and dadda...some other words he has said...thanks, side (outside), uh, oh, yeah...can't think of anymore right now.  He continues to crack us up with all of his talking.
  • Makes the noises for an elephant, car/truck, ambulance/fire truck, lion, and dog
  • Mimics everything we do
  • Has seven teeth
  • Becoming more sensitive (hysterically cried each time I got dunked in our school dunk tank while my mom was watching him)
  • Definitely tells us when he doesn't want to leave a fun place or isn't happy...arching of the back has begun
  • Loves playing in the sand and pool (especially with his cousins)
Reid is really an awesome toddler!  He is so much fun to be around and has such a great personality.  I truly cherish my Thursday's and Friday's with him just being Mommy and of course all the other days!

Even Reid knows where to put the dirty laundry...actually it was clean ;)

Loves his frozen yogurt
